Walker, Texas Ranger was set to premiere April 21, 1993, but just ten days before they faced the possibility of being canceled without ever really being given a chance. The production company they had been working with, Cannon Television, suddenly declared bankruptcy, leaving the show hanging in the balance. Luckily, the executives at CBS saw the pilot episode and loved it. They quickly bought the rights of the show for their network, and the rest is history.
