In March 2015, Denise was awoken by a voice in her ear telling her to wake up. “I opened my eyes to a flashing light,” she told ABC News. She says that a man’s voice declared that it was a robbery and ordered her to tie up her sleeping boyfriend’s arms and legs beside her. She was terrified but did what she was told. She was then attacked and intimately assaulted by the masked man, before being ushered out of the bedroom. Denise says that she believes that there was another attacker present but she never saw his face.
