The couple believes there was another person who helped Muller who may still be out there. They say that even with Muller behind bars they are terrified. As for the Gone Girl comparisons, they are tired of their story being used as stranger-than-fiction headline. “This is only strange because law enforcement made it strange,” Aaron says. “People broke into my home, threatened my family, threatened to hurt the person they kidnapped. If [the police] had said ‘this was a kidnapping’ and followed the evidence… we wouldn’t be talking about Gone Girl.”
