Like Mischa Barton, Winona Ryder was the “it girl” of the 1990s, appearing in Edward Scissorhands, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Little Women, and Girl, Interrupted to name but a few. At the turn of the millennium, however, things took a turn.
Ryder was caught shoplifting in New York City in 2001, an incident that prompted her to speak up about her mental health struggles. She revealed she battled issues such as anxiety, depression and exhaustion, which even made her drop out of The Godfather Part III. She has since turned down major roles, and appears in Netflix’s Stranger Films.
