Most of the muppets are small – about two feet tall. However, when seen on TV they take up the whole screen, giving them the appearance of being human sized. This effect is made by having the camera zoom in onto the muppets themselves, cutting the actual muppeteers out of the frame of the shot, and preserving the illusion that the muppets are real, live characters. This illusion is crucial because some muppets require two people to control them!
