The iconic film Saving Private Ryan is set during the Second World War. The film was directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg so it seems odd that he did not notice this error.
During the War, soldiers wore brown boots and black boots were not produced at the time. Black boots began to be produced in the 1950s. However, this film is so great that it is easy to overlook this mistake.
