When the show’s creators were first coming up with names for the characters, they knew they wanted Chuck Norris’ character to have the best name possible. However, Cordell Walker was not their first pick. Originally, he was going to be called Sam Bolt, and the show’s name was going to be Sam Bolt, Texas Ranger. But as the production went on they realized that Sam Bolt didn’t have quite the tough guy feel they wanted in the name, and it was eventually changed to Walker, the name we all love.
