A celebrated actress and Warren Beatty’s older sister, Shirley MacLaine gave birth to her only child at age 21 with her then-husband, businessman Steve Parker. Because the actress was not ready to put her career on hold, her daughter Sachi was raised in Japan with Parker, with MacLaine only really seeing her on holidays and summer vacations. Although Sachi has said that her mother basically missed out on her childhood, she credits the way she grew up with helping her become the strong, empowered woman she is today.
