This Russian ship is their answer to the United States Navy’s USS Coronado and the other Independence class littoral combat ships.
Carrying both surface to air as well as sea to surface missiles, the ships are able to provide cover for Russian Marines landing anywhere they might be needed. These ships terrify the Baltic countries, especially after what happened in Ukraine. The ships have also been sold to the Algerians.
