In 2002, Amy Adams was in the film Catch Me If You Can, which included other stars such as Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio. Adams was not famous at the time but she played a nurse in the movie.
Her character, Brenda was wearing braces throughout the film. While braces were invented at the time the film was set, they were extremely expensive, which means that Brenda would not likely have been able to afford them.
