The story of Gladiator takes place in Ancient Rome so it definitely does not compute that Russell Crowe’s character is wearing lycra shorts.
Lycra did not exist in Ancient Rome but Crowe’s shorts are visible in several shots throughout the movie. Many audience members were quick to catch the mistake but it did not do too much damage to the plot as they were flesh tone and hard to spot.
