The Indonesian National Armed Forces has to make sure that it can control one of the most sprawling, remote countries in the world. The country of Indonesia is made up of over 17,000 islands, and several of them are not happy with being ruled by the people in Jakarta.
In fact, there was a rebellion on one of the islands which resulted in the creation nation of East Timor. Meanwhile, there are people on the island of Papua who want to integrate into the country of Papua New Guinea. However, the Indonesian military keeps them in check.
