While France may not be known for its military prowess anymore, the French Armed Forces definitely have some fight in them. They have participated in almost all NATO operations, including bombing Syria and Iraq in order to oust ISIS fighters.
The country has a huge air force (which is logical considering they make tons of fighter jets), and they even find time to lead peacekeeping missions in their former colonies.
