This littoral combat ship is called the USS Independence, and the ship is yes, you guessed it, a part of the United States Navy.
The ship is in the same class as the USS Coronado, and the two vessels share a bunch of similarities. For instance, the two ships are really quick (the USS Independence can hit 51 miles per hour!), and both are able to ferry US Marines onto enemy beachheads really quickly.
