Ever since the Czech Republic split from Slovakia back in 1994 following the fall of the Soviet Union, the Czech military has been charged with maintaining the territorial integrity of the country.
However, due to the fact that its neighbors are more likely to fight with lawyers than with guns, the Czech military is quite small. However, there is a Czech military presence on several peacekeeping operations, including in the Golan Heights and Mali. The Czechs have also given over one battalion over to German command in order to create a regional defense force.
