Ricki Lake was born in the town of Hastings-on-Hudson, which is located right outside New York City. Her parents did not have a big hand in raising her, instead being brought up by her grandmother, Sylvia Lake.
Ricki Lake stayed with her until Sylvia’s death, and then went off to Ithaca College, an institution she studied at for one year. It took her a little bit to find her bearings, but find them she did with her very own talk show!
