Giada was born in Rome, Italy, as the oldest child of actress Veronica De Laurentiis and producer Alex De Benedetti. When she was a child, she would often spend a great deal of time cooking in the family’s kitchen and at her grandfather’s restaurant.
After her parents got a divorce, she and her siblings moved to Los Angeles, California, where she attended Marymount High School followed by the University of California, where she studied social anthropology.
