Considering she’s technically her subject, it was pretty nerve-racking for Claire Foy to play her country’s monarch, Queen Elizabeth, in The Crown. Of course, Foy played a very young Elizabeth, both right before and right after she became queen. Shockingly, despite the fact she’s been on the throne for nearly 70 years, we actually know very little about the woman under the crown. And so, Foy’s incredible performance as the 25-year-old woman who suddenly became queen was fascinating. Foy herself did copious amounts of research in preparation, and the show’s wardrobe department really went all-out to finish the job.
