Acting is a tough business, and it often has many challenges – but rarely does an actor face the very real possibility of getting whacked over a role. That quite possibly might’ve been the case for Johnny Depp when he played Irish-American gangster James “Whitey” Bulger in Black Mass. A huge departure from Depp’s regular zany roles, he disappeared into playing the Boston crook. He wore heavy prosthetics and blue contacts, and even stained his teeth yellow – and Bulger wasn’t pleased. The gangster refused meeting or even corresponding with Depp, and his attorney said Depp may as well have been playing the Mad Hatter again. Ouch.
