1988 would bring another big step forward for Elisabeth in terms of her career. She appeared in the rom-com film ‘Cocktail’ opposite Tom Cruise, playing the role of his love interest Jordan Mooney.
‘Cocktail’ was something of a mixed bag – it was almost universally panned by critics, even winning the Golden Raspberry for Worst Picture. However, it was a massive commercial success, making one hundred and seventy million dollars on a budget of just twenty million. As such, despite negative reviews, it put Elisabeth’s name out to a much larger audience.
