Still reeling from the loss of her brother, Elisabeth decided to take a little time to recuperate. She did not stop working altogether, but took much smaller roles than her now greater status might have led to.
During this time, she appeared in the second and third films in the ‘Back to the Future’ series – playing the role of Jennifer Parker, Marty McFly’s girlfriend. She took this role over from Claudia Wells, who was dealing with family troubles of her own at the time, leading her to drop the role.
