Though it seems obvious in retrospect, Erin Brockovich was a groundbreaking movie. First off, it featured an Oscar-winning performance by Julia Roberts. While she’d been a leading lady for the better part of a decade, it was usually in lighthearted romantic comedies. Secondly, Roberts got $20 million for the role, making her the highest paid woman in Hollywood. Thirdly, she totally deserved it. Roberts was electric as the single mom who worked as a legal clerk, took a giant company to court – and won. Even though it’s been 20 years, everyone still remembers Erin’s ensemble. There was really just one issue – the real Erin wore far less!
