[post_page_title]Robert Downey Jr. vs. Charlie Chaplin[/post_page_title]
Before he suited up to play Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, another role was the biggest of Robert Downey Jr.’s career. In 1992, he portrayed the biggest funnyman in the history of Hollywood, Charlie Chaplin, in the movie Chaplin. Downey was 27 at the time, and admitted the role was the first one he actually prepared for in his career. And boy, did he ever. The actor spent a full year learning how to mimic the comedian’s iconic movement, mastering his British accent, and even learning Chaplin’s various skills, from tennis to playing the violin. While the movie wasn’t a success, Downey’s acting was universally praised.
