The Shue siblings had parents in fairly prominent positions – their mother Anne was the vice president of the banking division of the Chemical Banking Corporation, and their father James was the president of the International Food and Beverage Corporation.
However, their father may have been even more well-known had his political ambitions come to fruition. In 1962, James Shue made a Republican bid for New Jersey’s eleventh congressional seat, but lost out to Democrat Joseph G. Minish. Shue received just over thirty one percent of the vote.
