One of the other roles Elisabeth Shue missed out on was that of Vivian Ward in the 1990 rom-com ‘Pretty Woman’. Shue auditioned and was considered for the role, but it would eventually go to Julia Roberts.
‘Pretty Woman’ follows Vivian Ward, a down on her luck woman offered a chance to escape poverty by Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) – during which time the two begin to develop feelings for one another. The film was a monster hit at the box office, becoming one of the best-performing rom-coms in history.
