Before Mad Men had Jon Hamm as their leading man, Thomas Jane was offered the role of Don Draper. Although Thomas initially accepted the position, he turned it down last minute. Thomas has been cast as a number of bad boys over the years, but the actor apparently had other plans.
Jon Hamm was the second choice who managed to outdo 80 other actors all gunning for the role. Landing the part helped Jon continue acting as he had been close to leaving Hollywood altogether.
