In the first pilot of Gossip Girl, the role of Blair Waldorf’s fashion tycoon mother, Eleanor, was played by Florencia Lorenzo. However, the director felt as though she looked too young to be playing Blair’s mom, and decided to look for someone else instead. Enter Margaret Colin, who was 11 years older than Lorenzo.
Margaret Colin first appeared in episode four of the teen drama and starred in 34 episodes over the 6 seasons. Lorenzo, most recently, has appeared as Claudia Messina in Netflix hit, Narcos.
