When SATC were casting their characters, Sandra Bernhard was a show in for playing Miranda Hobbes. Unfortunately, this comedian learned that the pay was below her average charge so declined the part.
If that wasn’t enough, Sandra also told Howard Stern she believed the script was written terribly as well as having no interest in working alongside Sarah Jessica Parker. Shortly after the event, Cynthia Nixon was cast to play the role instead. Portraying Miranda won the actress an Emmy as well as many other award nominations.
