During the original pilot of The Big Bang Theory, Amanda Walsh was cast to play Penny in the award-winning sitcom. Walsh, known for her roles in movies such as Disturbia and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, was a much more assertive version of Penny and the producers decided against making the character so tough.
They invited Kaley Cuoco in for an audition and realized she was exactly what they were looking for!
