After his huge success in Friends, Matt LeBlanc has been at the forefront of a lot of casting agent’s minds when it came to the perfect comical lead. So when Modern Family were looking for an actor to bring the role of Phil Dunphy to life, they were straight on the phone to Matt.
When Matt read the script, he had other ideas. The actor believed the role didn’t suit his style, so the part was eventually offered to Ty Burrell.
