Alan Sepinwall is well-known for creating the popular western TV show, Deadwood. However, it seems he couldn’t decide who would play the rough and rockin’ Al Swearengen. Would it be Ed O’Neil or Ian McShane?
Sepinwall eventually chose McShane, as he didn’t think his viewers would be able to distinguish between his show and Married With Children. Since then, Ian has dominated the role as the patriarch in Modern Family and has been nominated for numerous awards thanks to his hilarious nature.
